About Me
Keeping Employees Productive

Last year, I realized that a few of our employees did not have the best intentions when they came to work. It seemed like their goal was to slack off and avoid work, and it was really frustrating. I realized that I had to do something in order to make things right, so I started working with them to train them. I also installed a camera system and explained the consequences of their actions. Within about six months, we were able to completely overhaul things, and it made a huge difference. This blog is all about keeping employees productive and on track, so that you can keep your company viable.

Tips for Keeping Your Carpet Clean

Grace Hanson

As the manager of a business, you likely want to make sure that the carpet inside your offices stays as clean as possible in order to make sure that you have a good first impression for important clients. However, you likely don't have the time or the money to get your carpet cleaned professionally every week. As a result, your carpets are going to pick up dirt and dust in between carpet cleanings that could cause them to not look as good. Here are some tips for making sure that your carpet looks great in between professional carpet cleaning times.

1. Have Sponges on Hand

Spills happen, regardless of how careful everyone is. You don't want to be known as the manger that didn't let people have bottles of pop at their desks. In order to mitigate any potential problems that might be caused by people having drinks at their desks, namely spills, you will need to make it possible for people to clean up as quickly as possible.

Speed is of the essence in the case of a spill. You want to be sure that you have clean sponges on hand at all times and that everyone in the office knows where they are and can retrieve them easily.

Near the sponges, post signs about what people should do in case of spill. These signs should tell people to blot the spill by putting a little bit of pressure on it every second or so in order to soak up the liquid. It should also warn against the dangers of rubbing any spilled liquids because this could work the liquid into the carpet fibers more thoroughly and cause permanent stains.

By giving your employees the tools and information they need to clean up their spills quickly and efficiently, you can keep your carpet looking great. Also consider having club soda to help clean up the carpets.

2. Vacuum Regularly

Another common cause of carpets looking dirty in between professional cleanings is a buildup of dust and other debris. Make sure that one of your employees or a janitorial team is vacuuming the area every day. This will help prevent the dust from getting ground into the carpet, making it look and feel less than great.

3. Watch for Candy

Finally, make sure that candy doesn't stay on the carpet. If you find candy on the carpet that is stuck, take a butter knife and slide it under the candy. Use this to pull up the bulk of it, and then spot check it with a damp towel to remove the rest of the sugar particles. Keep doing this until the area is no longer sticky. If you leave any sugar in the carpeting, you are going to end up attracting more dust to that particular spot and will have it look worse than the rest of the carpet.
