About Me
Keeping Employees Productive

Last year, I realized that a few of our employees did not have the best intentions when they came to work. It seemed like their goal was to slack off and avoid work, and it was really frustrating. I realized that I had to do something in order to make things right, so I started working with them to train them. I also installed a camera system and explained the consequences of their actions. Within about six months, we were able to completely overhaul things, and it made a huge difference. This blog is all about keeping employees productive and on track, so that you can keep your company viable.

Need Hydrovac Excavation Services? How to Prepare for the Project

Grace Hanson

If you need some excavation work done in your yard, but you want to protect your landscaping, it's time to consider hydrovac services. Ordinary trenching can create a serious mess in your yard. It can also increase the risk for accidents and injuries. Luckily, you won't need to deal with the mess, or with the risk, when you choose hydrovac services. That's because hydrovac utilizes pressurized water, rather than heavy construction equipment. If you're going to utilize hydrovac services, here are four steps you need to take to prepare for the project.

Identify Your Underground Utilities

If you're preparing for hydrovac services, the first thing you need to do is identify your underground utilities. Because work will be done under the soil, your contractor will need to know where the utilities are located. Otherwise, the pressurized water could cut through gas lines or electrical wires. In most cases, utility providers will come out to your home to locate, and mark, your underground utility lines.

Pay Attention to Overhead Wires

If you need to have hydrovac work done in your yard, be sure to pay attention to the overhead wires. You might think that you don't need to worry about overhead wires since work will be done underground. But, that's not the case. Hydrovac work requires the use of booms and cranes. Unfortunately, without proper care, the booms and cranes could come in contact with overhead wires. To reduce the risk for accidents and injuries, be sure to have the hydrovac equipment located a safe distance away from the overhead wires.

Prepare the Excavation Location

If you require excavation services in your yard, and you've decided to go with hydrovac, you'll need to prepare the excavation location. First, mark the location where the excavation will take place. This will help to streamline the process. Second, remove all lawn furniture and debris from the work area. Finally, create a clear path from the road to the work area for equipment.

Obtain Appropriate Permits

Finally, if you need excavation work done in your yard, make sure you obtain the right permits. Depending on the project, your city may require you to obtain construction permits before any type of excavation can take place. Unfortunately, if you start the project without the right permits, you could end up with costly delays and fines. Your city planner's office can let you know what permits you'll need for hydrovac excavation services.
